Bike Set Up

On my first training ride after a bike set up from Anthony I felt so much faster, more aerodynamic and more comfortable that I couldn't stop thinking: ´why didn´t I get a bike set up sooner!?!´  I also felt a huge difference when cornering and descending- my bike just felt right!

Coaching

Since I started working with Anthony in mid 2012 I have increased the number of hours spent training but with Anthony´s care and experience in programming I have remained completely injury free and never felt over trained and thus have enjoyed many successes in races in NZ and Europe.  Anthony can always explain why you are doing each session and is hugely knowledgeable when it comes to planning tactics for race day!

Over time I have realised that having a good bike set up can be the difference between reaching 100% and just hitting 90%, when your training and racing hard that 10% makes a huge difference.

Feeling good on the bike is very important to me, without it just training can be an uphill task and when you spend so much time on the bike you need to be comfortable.

I had my first set up with Anthony in early 2010 and haven't looked back since - I entrust him with all my set ups for both my road and TT bike as well as all my cleat positioning
With Anthony's expertise we were able to create a great TT position which was a key part of my success in winning the NZ TT tiltle at elite Nationals in 2013.

I would highly recommend him to anyone from elite level to recreational cyclists - he certainly know's what works to get you the best set up possible and the most out of your position - Thanks Chappy!

After spending the best part of 3 years off the bike due to a hip replacement, chronic knee injuries and a slipped lumbar disc, my riding was restricted to twice a week if I was lucky and lots of painkillers in between. I’d completely lost interest in cycling and had pretty much given up hope of enjoying it again.

After my first bike fit with Anthony, and a few subsequent minor fine tuning sessions later, I can now ride pretty much every day pretty much pain free, so much so that my enthusiasm has returned to the point that I’ve bought a new bike and will be taking it to see the Tour de France in the flesh this year. I’d given up hope of doing that ever again, but I feel strong, fit, confident, and happy.


I can’t speak highly enough of Anthony, and put my recovery down to his help and good natured support. He's always willing to discuss ongoing issues and has been instrumental in improving the riding performance of several of my cycling friends both at race and social levels.

Definitely the best $200 I’d ever spent in cycling terms. If you are struggling to improve your performance or are held back with an old injury like I was then he's the man to help put it right for you.

Since my come back to competitive sport I have used Anthony for general conditioning and bike set ups.  With his knowledge and professional approach I have managed to perform above expectation in my first two full Iron distance races.

I originally went to Anthony to help resolve knee pains whilst cycling. His thorough analysis of my riding position, and the subsequent adjustments we made to my bike not only sorted out my knee, but made riding more comfortable and squeezed out a few extra watts!

When i finally bought a Time Trial bike, I went straight to Anthony for a setup before even taking it out for a ride. His expert bikefit and thoughtful coaching style coaxed me to achieve some fantastic race results and better TT times than I ever expected - Thanks Anthony!

I went to visit Anthony to get him to check my position on the bike, as I was feeling that I wasn’t riding as efficiently as I should have been, and felt uncomfortable on my bike even after short rides.

Initially Anthony adjusted my cleats position, and after viewing my position on the bike, he made some adjustments to the set up, which included changing the size of my cranks. These adjustments have enabled me to become more efficient, with a smoother pedalling technique, as well as become stronger due, to the increase in power that I am now able to achieve.

At this visit Anthony, also identified that I was slightly inflexible through my shoulders and back, so he showed me some stretches to help with my flexibility. This has improved the feeling of comfort on my bike, enabling me to ride longer, and allows me to enjoy my cycling more.

Coaching

Anthony has accepted the challenge of training me for Challenge Wanaka. As I am a nurse who works full time, which includes 12 hour shift work, Anthony has developed a personalised and flexible programme that allows me to balance my busy life with the training that is required for this event. Each month he designs the programme around my roster, and is available and for feedback on its suitability

After reviewing previous training that I had been doing, Anthony demonstrated to me that by doing the same repetitive training, I was not going to achieve the results that I wanted. I find that Anthony’s programmes not only have variation in different types of training, but they also challenge me to push my limits and encourage me to strive further to attain the results I want.

Anthony structures his programmes in a way that allows me to know exactly what each training session is setting out to achieve, so I can identify key sessions.  Under Anthony’s guidance I find that I am becoming stronger, and faster, and enjoying my cycling and running more. Thanks so much Anthony, for your help in helping me to attain my goal.

After years of injuries and pains especially in my knees and continually being unable to find a cure, I was introduced to Anthony Chapman.  Anthony immediately noticed my body was unique and what was causing my pain so delivered a bike set up to suit me and along with his Physiotherapy treatment this allowed me to do what I love, bike riding (with no pain).  Being able to ride in a comfy position has enabled me to succeed where I otherwise would’ve failed and enabled me to put my time and effort into riding instead of rehab. Anthony is known to most as Chappy and he has another nick-name within the peleton: 'The Guru' & for good reason.  

He has been the man I always see when something is up, a sore this, sore that or If I want to improve my bike setup to perform at my highest level.  Because Of Anthony I have been able to perform on my bike & improve in all areas.

I first saw Anthony in 2009 for a bikefit and run technique analysis.  I had always been a strong cyclist but wasn't feeling as good in my position on the bike as I had in the past. In world cups I was struggling in the bunch and in danger of getting dropped when the power was on.  He worked out that I actually had short legs for my height and needed to change down from 175 to 172.5mm.  This took a bit of getting used to but now feels natural and I am much stronger on the bike.  Now in races around the world I am never in any danger of getting dropped. I feel strong and have no trouble riding at or off the front.
Anthony is my physio, bike setup and biomechanist all in one. He knows exactly what I need and I go back every year for an adjustment.
